One of the world's oldest and most-recognized expedition adventure races, Raid the North Extreme returns with it's eighth edition in 2011. The West Kootenays will provide an inspiring and challenging race course in true Raid the North Extreme style - Real Wilderness, Real Navigation, Real Adventure.

Over 6 days, four-person co-ed teams will navigate a 500km+ expedition over an unmarked route by paddling, trekking, trail running, mountain biking, and using fixed ropes through the wild and historic West Kootenays of British Columbia.

Adventure Racers

As a traditional adventure race, RTNX features only four-person coed teams. Frontier provides teams with a true wilderness expedition experience: armed with maps and a compass, they must select their own routes between checkpoints, often navigating more than 75kms with no course markings. Only magnetic north and a sense of adventure will guide their way. Since 1999, teams have traveled from all corners of the globe to be at the start line of RTNX.

Volunteers

A race of this magnitude requires an incredible team of volunteers to make it a success. Our core crew of experienced racers and organizers provide a solid foundation for the event, but a robust volunteer team creates the energy and character of the race. Volunteers often travel as far as racers to be part of the experience. Whether you're an experienced backcountry adventurer with SAR and WFA skills, or a local who thinks this whole thing is crazy, we would love to have you on our team.

Registration

Cost: $4500 CDN* per team
*First 10 teams to register receive early pricing of $3995 CDN

Registration for this 6-day, non-stop race includes shuttles to and from the regional airport, and one night accommodations before and after the event. This will be an unsupported race. All watercraft will be provided, as well as VHF radios and GPS tracking devices. Teams are treated to opening and closing ceremonies, pre- and post-race meals, including a legendary post-race party. Of course, a quality race t-shirt and swag bag will await all racers and volunteers.
